BANDUNG, kemahasiswaan.itb.ac.id – Statistics Competition and the Data Science Festival (Satria Data) are competitions that the National Achievement Center routinely holds, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. This competition competes for statistical and data science; it aims to improve soft skills, information technology, data, and human resources.
To prepare students to participate in the competition, the Directorate of Student Affairs (Ditmawa) ITB, in collaboration with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA), held a Satria Data competition at the ITB level. This offline event was held last Saturday (17 August 2022) and attended by dozens of ITB students.
Head of Sub-Directorate of Student Organizations and Student Achievement Development, Ditmawa ITB, Dr. Epin Saepudin M.Pd, said that ITB had never sent student representatives to the National Satria Data competition. For this reason, his party carried out a series of internal competition activities to attract students to participate in the contest at the national level.
"Entering the competition is not only about targeting the champions, but also as a support for students so they can get learning. In addition, students participating in the Satria Data competition at the national level can encourage to be more competent in the scientific fields being contested. Participating in a similar competition at the ITB level is also part of the preparation so that students are more mature in participating in the competition," explained Epin.
Meanwhile, the ITB Satria Data Jury representative, Dr. Gantina Rachmaputri M.Si, said that this internal competition is a kind of simple selection for ITB students who want to participate in the Satria Data competition at the national level. Moreover, ITB students have not participated in the competition, so this internal competition is considered important as a preparation to face the competition, which will be more intense in the future.
"The categories and regulations for this internal competition are as similar as possible to similar contests at the National level. Of course, many rules are the same, but we simplify them further with less time. Of the several categories that followed, the Big Data Challenge category was one of the categories that d
was in great demand by ITB students. The reason is this category is quite rare for students to participate in, for that maybe this will be a new challenge for them, "explained Change.
