BANDUNG, kemahasiswaan.itb.ac.Id —The Beasiswa Luar Biasa (BLB) Scholarship has extraordinarily impacted many parties. The spirit of giving back is present again at BLB period 12. BLB sees that there are gaps rarely filled in the scholarship system that are generally given, so several groups of students still need help to get scholarships even though they need them. Therefore, BLB upholds the value of inclusivity when accepting and selecting scholarship recipients.
Every student who needs a scholarship can apply without any semester limits or economic condition requirements up to a minimum GPA. Apart from assistance in the form of UKT, BLB facilitates scholarship recipients to increase their potential through monthly coaching and mentoring programs. The coaching and mentoring participants come from young alum donors. BLB can become a bridge for young alums to channel their enthusiasm for education and continue working with scholarship recipients.
BLB period 12 succeeded in attracting 440 students who registered and participated in the selection process until 124 students were selected as scholarship recipients. During this period, Beasiswa Luar Biasa (BLB) will be responsible for the next period of scholarship distribution. There are 488 donors in composition, 132 continuing BLB 11 donors, and 356 new donors willing to continue the spirit of togetherness in sharing benefits. In this period, BLB also carried out tactical one-time donation fundraising and collected funds of up to 338 million rupiahs, distributed to BLB recipients for this 12th period.
The opening of the 12th period of the Extraordinary Scholarship carried the theme "Dare to sail to make your hopes and dreams come true." It was attended by representatives of the ITB Directorate of Student Affairs (Ditmawa) and the ITB Alumni Office. The coaching activity opened with a symbolic handover of scholarships for period 12 worth Rp. 713,525,000.00 from the management of the Extraordinary Scholarship Foundation to Ditmawa ITB, represented by Nenden Rina Ratnakomala, S.T., M.T..
He said that his party appreciates ITB alums who have participated in efforts to help students with their education. Chairman of the ITB Alumni Office, Mr. Dede Koswara, A.Md., S.T., also expressed his highest appreciation to the alums who have contributed to the success of the Extraordinary Scholarship until this period. The potential of ITB alumni is significant in helping active students complete their education, so this kind of alumni scholarship program needs to be continued and developed as an inspiration for other campuses in Indonesia.
The talk show session was filled by two great people who are also BLB donors, namely Royyan Abdullah Dzakiy (Informatics Engineering 2015) and Fadillah Muna'azat (Environmental Infrastructure Engineering 2016). Both dared to take a stand to face challenges in achieving their dreams to prove themselves and show their best potential during their studies. It is demonstrated by Royyan's achievements as the person in charge of the Chair of the Student Family Cabinet (PJS K3M) with all the dynamics of his election and Fadil being able to serve as Chair of the Environmental Infrastructure Engineering Association with all his innovations.
“It works, friends. If you maximize all your learning and become a 'Complete Human' on campus," Royyan said, "Okay, when you interview, you're just like that, right? But climbing the career ladder becomes full because you have a complete skill set."
He even advised students to have the courage to take high positions in organizations to become complete human beings. However, the journey to becoming a whole human being takes work. Many things happen during this course, one of which is academic obstacles that may occur. In this case, Fadil provides another point of view in responding to this.
"Believe me, a chemistry score of 20/100 can motivate Fadil to study even more. A Fadil can interpret or see it from another perspective, not from the perspective that shows that Fadil failed when taking the chemistry exam. "It could be that if a Fadil gets a score of 80/100 on a chemistry test, it will actually make a Fadil happy, feel satisfied, feel sufficient, and so on until, in the end, there is no motivation to do better," he said.
“Be real. Sometimes, we try too hard to deny who we are. Even though that is what God has given us, He knows what is best for us. "We just have to strategize how to survive," concluded Royyan.
