BANDUNG, kemahasiswaan.itb.ac.id – During a presentation at the Titian Karir Terpadu, a career fair held by ITB, PT Timas Suplindo offered ITB students valuable insight into the dynamic world of EPCIC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning). Led by the Project Manager Albert Kurniawan, the session introduced Timas not merely as a construction company, but as a platform for interdisciplinary growth within the energy industry.

As a nationally-owned private company with decades of experience, Timas has grown to become one of Indonesia’s key players in onshore and offshore EPCIC projects. With a clear vision to become a world-class EPCIC company, Timas upholds a mission to earn client trust, create added value for stakeholders, and continuously pursue sustainable development. All of these are grounded in its core values: teamwork, integrity, accountability, and safety.

Despite the technical complexity of its operations, Timas’ work extends beyond engineering alone. Albert explained that the EPCIC industry is far more multifaceted than it appears. “At Timas, we don’t only deal with engineering. The field offers diverse career paths, from project management and quality control to safety and procurement,” he said.

Timas boasts comprehensive capabilities across both land and sea. Onshore, they work on oil refineries, storage terminals, power plants, fertilizer facilities, and renewable energy infrastructure. Offshore, Timas is involved in subsea pipeline installations and offshore gas production facilities, such as the Floating Production Unit Trunojo project in the Madura Strait. All of this is supported by Timas’ own fabrication facilities located in Serang and Batam, as well as a dedicated fleet that includes Timas DLB 01 and Timas T1201.

Some of Timas’ notable projects include offshore gas pipelines in the Natuna Sea with Medco, a 42-inch pipeline installation for Exxon and Esso in Thailand, and the PTTEP Zawtika project in Myanmar, which involved subsea pipeline installation at depths of up to 160 meters. Domestically, Timas has handled the Cirebon-Semarang gas pipeline and the construction of a fertilizer plant in Bontang.

In addition to its technical excellence, Timas is committed to environmental and social sustainability. The company runs at least four Corporate Social Responsibility programs annually in its operational areas, including turtle hatchling releases, coral reef restoration, mangrove planting, and regular blood donation at Graha Building. Internal company culture is also nurtured through events such as sport days, communal iftars, and year-end celebrations.

To conclude the session, Richard as the recruitment representative shared practical career advice with students. He highlighted the importance of crafting a resume that is specific and tailored to each role, maintaining a professional online presence, and having the courage to follow up after applying. “Your CV doesn’t need to be long—what matters is that it’s targeted,” he noted.

Through this presentation, Timas not only shed light on the EPCIC industry, but also demonstrated that the energy sector offers ample opportunities for those eager to grow, contribute, and thrive in this ever-evolving field.
