JATINANGOR, kemahasiswaan.itb.ac.id - The Directorate of Student Affairs ITB through Tutor Asrama ITB held the annual Asrama Festival as the closing event of dormitory activities in the 2024/2025 period. The Asrama Festival was held on Sunday (06/01/2025) at the GKU 2 Auditorium, ITB Jatinangor Campus. This activity, as the culmination of all activities in the dormitory, were attended and enlivened by residents of Jatinangor Dormitories as well as Tutor Asrama ITB. The event aims to accommodate the development of interests and talents outside the academic realm while also providing appreciation to residents and members of Tutor Asrama ITB. Carrying the tagline "From Dorms, Dreams Come True", the event holds meaning and hope that all dreams of dormitory residents can be realized starting from the dormitory, especially in this Asrama Festival. The event was also attended directly by the Director of Student Affairs ITB, Prof. Dr. apt. Muhamad Insanu, S.Si., M.Si. In his speech, he said that dormitory activities like these can be entertainment and help to balance academic activities for ITB students.

"One of the problems of ITB students is being too busy studying. With events like this, you can forget for a moment that you have an obligation to study," he said.

There are 2 main activities, namely (1) the Asrama ITB Next Star as a talent show for residents as well as Tutor Asrama in non-academic fields and (2) Asrama Awarding which focuses on academic appreciation. The Asrama ITB Next Star presented 4 finalists of dormitory residents who showed their talents in singing and reading poetry. These finalists displayed their talents on stage in front of the judges and the audiences. Throughout the performance, there were rounds of applause from the amazed audiences. The first place was won by Rubent Titus Nainggolan (Physics, 2023). The third place was won by Cindi Yorensa (Forestry Engineering, 2024) who displayed her singing talent. Meanwhile, the second place was won by Arsya Dwi Ardana (Food Engineering, 2024). The fourth place was won by Ahmad Ainul Yaqin (Astronomy, 2024) who displayed his poetry reading talent.

In addition to the talent performances, there is Asrama Awarding as a form of appreciation for outstanding residents and Tutors who have shown extraordinary dedication in both academic and non-academic fields. The award categories consist of: (1) academic achievement for residents or tutors who managed to achieve perfect marks in the previous semester, (2) achievement in the field of competition/championship for residents or tutors who won awards in competitions/championships participated in at the national or international level, and (3) organizational achievement as an event coordinator or division head in an official activity. In addition, there are nominations in the dormitory-related scopes such as the best resident–given to residents who demonstrated good behavior and actively participated in the Dormitory Character Development Programs–, the best mentoring group, and the cleanest room.

This event is also merrier with the song performance of the Tutor Asrama Band. In addition, there was also an Asrama Exhibition in the form of a booth that displayed documentation of dormitory activities over the past year. From daily activities to big events, every moment was shown to commemorate the long journey of life together in the dormitory. The exhibition was greeted with high enthusiasm.

Overall, 167 residents and 88 Tutor Asrama participated in the Asrama Festival. The residents felt appreciated and made this event a place to show another side of themselves. Several Asrama Next Star winners shared their impressions.

"I didn't expect much but thank God there was something to bring home, and it was very fun," said Rubent.

"Interested in joining, so I can introduce (to people) that Arsya has a talent like this (reading poetry)" said Arsya.

The event ended with a karaoke session to strengthen the sense of togetherness between residents and Tutor Asrama. It is hoped that this activity can continue in the following years as a tradition that fosters community spirit, self-expression, and appreciation.

"The hope is that residents and Tutors can continue to inspire and improve their achievements, innovations, and creativity in academic and non-academic fields," said Syifa Aulia (Forestry Engineering, 2023) as the head committee of Asrama Festival 2025.
