JATINANGOR, kemahasiswaan.itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) was chosen to host The Indonesian ABU Robocon (KRAI). The event, which took place on Tuesday (7/8/2025) at the Futsal Sports Hall of Jatinangor Campus ITB, brought together the best robotics teams from across Indonesia for a day of intense competition, from preliminary rounds to the finals. Twenty-four teams that had passed the online selection stage participated in the event to compete for the national champion title.

This year's competition opened with a match between RIVERA from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) and LAHBAKO-SAN from Universitas Jember, marking the beginning of a series of matches that lasted until the evening. All teams were divided into two sides, red and blue, with each match featuring one team from each side. Each team was given only three balls and had to utilize them efficiently. If the final score is tied after all balls have been used, the match continues with an extra 60 seconds to score as many points as possible without being blocked by the opponent.

The Head of the KRAI 2025 Committee, Ir. Vani Virdyawan, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., stated that this year's competition was quite challenging as many teams struggled to score. He explained that many robots were still unable to complete missions such as dribbling and passing accurately, resulting in slow play that lasts until close to midnight. He also emphasized that with a match duration of only two minutes, every robot's action was crucial.

"The task in this competition isn't just about getting the ball into the opponent's hoop, but also includes other assessment aspects such as the ability to pass the ball to a teammate robot, catch a rebound from the floor, and dribble," said Vani.

Regarding the scoring system, one of the judges explained that efficiency was the primary focus. Scoring began with the highest score, followed by the number of shots, with the team that scored points with the fewest shots being favored. If the final score remains the same, the fastest time to score a point is the next consideration. When all these criteria are insufficient to determine the winner, the final decision is left to the judges.

"The scoring order is based on the number of shots, then it comes down to the team with the fewest shots. Next, it comes down to the time, and (finally, if it's still a tie), it goes back to the judges," said Benyamin, the head judge.

The final match pitted RIVERA from ITS against EIRA from Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya. RIVERA put on an impressive performance, scoring three unanswered points, securing a 3-0 victory and securing their place in the international competition, representing Indonesia at the ABU Robocon in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, this coming August. This victory concluded a series of impressive competitions and marked ITB's success as a host, supporting the development of the best innovations from Indonesia's young generation in the field of robotics.
